Welcome, my friend! I’m Danielle Philips, founder of They Were Here – Lessons from Their Lives. I also host the podcast of the same name, where we celebrate and preserve the wisdom, stories, and legacies of those we’ve loved and lost.
After losing my daughter, Angelina, to cancer, I realized how important it is to make sure the lives of those we love are never forgotten. Their lessons, laughter, and love deserve to live on, guiding us and inspiring others long after they’re gone.
They Were Here offers a podcast, stories, and resources to honor lives, share memories, and ensure that legacies continue to shine.
Danielle is the Founder and President of the They Were Here Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to preserving legacies through storytelling. After losing her daughter, Angelina, to childhood cancer, Danielle became passionate about capturing the memories, lessons, and impact of the people we love. Through the They Were Here podcast and YouTube series, she helps families, leaders, and communities ensure that meaningful stories are never forgotten.
What makes a father? Biology? A last name? Or the decision to show up, day after day, and love a child as your own?
In the premiere episode of They Were Here: Lessons From Their Lives, Edward Balsam shares the story of his stepfather, Robert H. Levin—a man who stepped into a role he didn't have to fill and became the father his family needed.
